The Senior Reserves travelled up to Tir na nOg today with both teams looking for their first points to get them off the mark. We arrived at the pitch due to some injries and absences. We started off with a grest display of football with some great passing and support play which gave us a very deserved lead. We had some well taken points/goal in the first half form Ronan (3), PJ (1), Colm (1), Gerard (1) and Niall (1-1). We went in at half time with the scores at 1-08 to 0-05 in our favour after a great display of football. We came out in the 2nd half very much on the backfoot with Tir na nOg throwing everything at us and we struggled to find a reply! We coped well with the pressure and the "not so great" refereeing. We were in the lead comfortable enough then they struck back of the net which put the teams level. In the dying minutes of the PJ O'Boyle made a darting run from sideline and struck the ball low which to everyones shock the keeper saved and then followed with his trusty leg peg as nice as like stuck it over the bar! (whether he meant it or not is for you to decide). The match came to an end with Glenravel leaving the more disappointed side leaving with a draw and a red card (you know who you are).

Glenravel recorded their forth league win in a row when on Sunday In Belfast when the defeated Ardoyne by three points After leading by a point at the interval the Green and Whites despite missing a few good chances were always on top and won by one goal and ten points to a goal and seven. Next game is on Wednesday night away to St Agnes in Belfast and it would be great to see a few more people there to support the team.

Have to say that the minors won a fantastic game of football against ballymena last night, it really was end to end stuff! To be six points to one up in the middle of the 1st half and go in at half time a point down is hard to take at any level. Fair play to all the coaches any every one of the 20+ players for not givin up or layin down to anyone of the ballymena boys.
Credit has to be given to all involved in our youth structure for the past 8 odd years. Things are lookin better now, but it was the hard work put in that got us this far. Keep it goin lads!!

How wise is it to arrange both senior hurling & senior football trainig on the one night? Not very fair on the 5 or 6 dual players we have.

Glenravel 1-13 Ballymena 1-11
After a couple of decent friendly performances in March, a limited training programme, and a frustrating time weather-wise it was down to the real business on Thursday night of the SW Minor League. Playing at 'A' grade this year, this would be an indication of the talent and resource within the squad, and first up as opposition were near neighbours Ballymena. A sizeable crowd waited expectantly - however it took both sides some time to get into their stride as they measured each other up before David Higgins opened the home team account on eight minutes. A Caolan McCambridge free and point either side of a fine Declan Higgins goal put Glenravel 5 points clear, registering 1-3 to a single point in reply. There were strong performances all over the park, the exchanges were tough as the play ebbed and flowed - Conor Garry was strong at the back, Gerard O'Mullan prompted - midfield pushed forward and forwards created space. Inexplicably then it all stopped and Ballymena were allowed back into the game as they reeled off three points in a row and a goal just before the break to go in 1-4 to 1-3 ahead at the break. Regrouping and introducing Joe Scullion to the back division and Declan Traynor up front, the impact was immediate as Traynor's workrate set up Declan Higgins for another fine point on 25seconds of the half. A McCambridge effort was cancelled out by a Ballymena score; however with Quinn and O'Mullan getting a foothold at midfield, David Higgins a constant outlet and Josh McKeown involved in everything the scores flowed. The sizeable crowd was now treated to an excellent game as played flowed from one end to the other - Michael O'Mullan, Declan Diamond and Conor McNeill added their names to the scoresheet as the game entered a nailbiting finale. As it was Ballymena blinked first in the gathering dusk and Declan Higgins capped a fine individual performance, adding the final point in injury time to secure two points and get 2010 off to a winning start. Great performances all round and thanks to all 1-21 of the panel involved. next up, away to Glenavy next Tuesday night.
