With reference to "Balcony Boys"
Firstly, can I say that as this person had a fair point to make however did not feel comfortable putting their name to it, they should be allowed the opportunity to air it.
Secondly, I believe that it is up to every member of this club to challenge this sort of abuse should they hear it and I am as guilty as the next person of turning a deaf ear to it. To draw a parallel to this: Should a club member witness somebody throwing stones at the windows of the community building would they go immediately and stop the culprits or walk away and tell a member of the executive whos response is to issue a letter to all members asking them to refrain from doing this? Windows are alot easier replaced than the confidence of a player who is the subject to a tirade of abuse and it is galling that we club members stand meekly by while this goes on. I know of one father who was at the match who had to ask his children to move to another part of the field because of the language. This is simply not good enough.
There are countless hours put into the development of players before they reach the senior team and to see some of them walk away from the game because of this has to be stopped and it is time for everyone to put their heads above the parapet. Enough is enough.

Hard luck to the minors last nite who suffered a one point defeat by 'league favourites' rasharkin. A 3 goal rally in the last ten minutes was just enough to put st brendans away. Any supporters or players from glenravel would be greatly appreciated as they are scarse at the minute.

As an uncle of a young budding footballer I thought I would take my nephew to the game tonight and let him experience his first senior game, all we experienced was language which can only be described as disgusting from a few older members of the club. I thought 'supporters' were meant to encourage the team, not verbally abusing them at every chance with foul language. Its fair enough having super changing rooms & 8 out of 8 victories but unless we tackle the problem of abuse to match officials and teams, we wont have any young players coming through as they will get sick of the 'balcony boys' and their foul and disgraceful language.
Appreciate the sentiments expressed in this posting and clearly something we all need to be aware of, however we much prefer people to use their name when posting on the Guestbook.

glenravel 1-11    mitchells 3-4

sundays reserve game saw the visit of mitchells, glenravel still looking for their first win of the season started brightly with the opening score coming from josh which was quickly follwed up by a fine point from nial kelly. the game became scrappy for a number fo minutes before glenravel began to dominate again with a nice bit of skill from ryan mcglade before stroking the ball over, josh folowed up with another score before Paudraig kerr scored a great point on the turn. 2 frees from josh opened a gap between the teams and nial kelly scored another point. mitchells scored a goal and 2 points approaching half time to leave the score at half time 1-3 to 10 points in glenravels favour. the second half started the same as the first with glenravelg dominating with further scores from paudy and ronan. glenravel began to lose control of the game and mitchells scored to goals and a point, glenravel needed to lift thier game and they did when pj tucked the ball in the bottom corner, the last 10 minutes saw glenravel stuck in their own half and mitchells missed a number of chances to level the game but glenravel held on for a 1 point victory. Barney hughes playing his 1st game in a long time played very well at corner back.

training is required, so lets get to training lads!!

Good result for seniors yesterday, and at last a win for the reserves. Maybe some of the reserves will make their way to training and take the pressure off the old boys like Soda, Gerard, Alec, Higsy & PJ!

C'mon lads 1 night a week isnt alot to ask for!!
