All support for both teams is greatly appreciated.

Up For The Cup – Mc Mullan Cup
On Monday evening the U16s secured their place in the final of the McMullan Cup when they overcame McQuillan's in Paric Mac Uilin. This was billed as a tightly contested McMullan Cup semi final as McQuillan’s early in the season had a narrow victory against St Brendan’s in the league. What emerged however was a facile victory for St Brendans and missing Declan Traynor made the margin of victory even more surprising.
The first half was quite an even contest and although St Brendan’s were guilty of some wayward and careless shooting so were McQuillan’s and either team could have held the lead at the short whistle. Fortunately for the Benny’s a twenty yard free from Conleth McNeill found its way to the net two minutes from time, sending St Brendans in 2:05 to 1:04 ahead at the half way mark.
Home truths were aired during the half time break and it had the desired affect as in the five minutes after the restart Donal O’Hara playing at corner forward put over two points and netted a well worked goal to end the game as a contest. St Brendans continued to press with hard direct hurling and by the long whistle the lads had racked up a further 1:07 to leave the final score St Brendans 4:14 Ballycastle 1:06. This was a good performance on paper with a few drawbacks namely the decision making where players attempted to score goals when points were all that were needed, St Enda’s should be a much harder challenge in the final on Feis Sunday 4th July in Glenarriffe and complacency as witnessed at times in this match will not win us any silverware on that day.
Team:- Michael McHugh, Conor McKeown, Colm Nesson, Torr Kinney, Donn Whelan, Aidan Corbett, Peter Mulholland, Andy McLarnon, Mathew McCartan, Connor McNeill, Conleth McNeill, James Duffin, Eoin Magee, Ruairi Laverty, Donal O’Hara, Pearce Bannon, Gareth McKeown, Daniel McConvery, Jordan McNeill, Michael Dunn.

U16 League
St Brendan’s 4:06 St Enda’s 2:05
This was a cracker of a match played at a furious pace and with some of the best hurling to date. St Brendans elected to play with the breeze in the first half and playing into the Moyle Sea End. St Brendans started the stronger with points from Declan and Conor in the first six minutes. St Enda’s hit back within a matter of minutes with a superb goal from their number 14. The Glengormley men lad their tails up and pressed for more goals but St Brendans backs were up to the challenge. After containing the onslaught from St Enda’s our lads began to spread the sliothar around and put a few more points in the board then just before half time Donal O’Hara found the net after a great clearance down field from Andy McLarnon. From the puc out Aidan Culbert latched on to the ball and fed Eoin Magee who finished neatly past the goal keeper. St Enda’s added a point from a placed ball before Conleth McNeill did likewise from a 65. Halftime Score - St Brendans 2:06 St Enda’s 1:01. At the start of the second half St Enda’s with wind advantage reduced the score to leave four in it with a goal and a point. St Brendans found it hard to move up field and when Conleth McNeill was awarded a free from 40 yards out he decided to go for goal. Fortune favoured the brave and it gave the lads some breathing space to work with. St Enda’s reshuffled their deck and it was Cormac Ross that came up triumphs with a solo effort that whizzed past Michael McHugh in the St Brendan’s net. Again the lads dug deep and this time Eoin Magee put seven between the two teams when he raced on to a high clearance from defence. He soloed into the large rectangle before laying of for Declan Traynor to blast home. St Enda’s got a consolation point but could not find their way past a stout defence.

Congratulations to the U16's on reaching the McMullan Cup final, beating Dunloy and Ballycastle on their way there. I see the final is being played on feis Sunday as a curtain raiser to the senior hurling and camogie finals so the boys will get the opportunity to play in front of a big crowd. Their opponents St Endas came through the side of the draw with Cushendall and Loughiel in it, so they will no doubt be formidable oppostion. Best of luck lads.

Senior footballers win McCormick cup
On a perfect Toome pitch on a lovely sunny day Glenravel defeated Aghagallon by 11 points and played some great football in the process.Aided by the breeze our boys got off to a fine start and were 5 points in front before Aghagallon opened their account with a point. This was to be their only score of the half but it took a great goalline block from midfielder David Birt to save a certain goal.At the other end Chris McAuley had a goal disallowed for a square ball. With the midfield of Niall Donnelly and David Birt well on top Glenravel scored 4 more points to leave the interval score 9points to1.When David Birt and Conor Reid had the first two scores of the second half the game was as good as over.Colm McCambridge who had replaced the injured David Birt added a point and it was one way traffic until the final whistle.A fine team effort from everyone from Brian Birt in goal to Kieran McKeown at corner forward.
TEAM Brian Birt Damian OHagan Martin Mullholland Brian ONeill Aidan McCafferty Alastair McKeown Paul Mulholland David Birt Niall Donnelly Conor Reid David Birt David Higgins Chris McAuley Paddy Bell Kieran McKeown RESERVES USED Colm McCambridge Josh McKeown Ronan Higgins Caleoan McCambridge Aidan Carey .The only disappointment was the poor turn out at training on Tuesday night with 4 importment league games to play and the Championship coming up shortly.

The U16 St brendans won their McMullan semi-final against Ballycastle last night in Ballycastle.
This was a fantastic game of skill and determination and as mentors (and spectators) it was a delight to watch. This team has many boys from Con Magees playing in it and you are all a credit to your club. The final is on Feis sunday(4th July) in Glenaffie against St Endas, so come along and support these boys.
