13th Aug Carnlough 0-0 Brídíní Óga 12-0
The girls got kitted out ready to go and a few nerves starting to show. John and Seamus called the team and had a few words with them about carrying out some of the things we had learned in training.
They lined out and Leona went in for the pull and soon we had ball in the forward line with Bronagh putting it in the back of the net. Victoria then had a great block down, finishing the ball into the back of the net. The ball never really got out of the half forward line with the girls queuing up to take scores. Carnlough battled on but our girls were just too strong and they held their position really well and played as a team. Laoise and Colleen played and fought for every ball, Chanetelle & Leona feeding the ball into Katie, Victoria, Kristy, Kate & Bronagh, Shauna, Ciara did not get a lot of play, Lauren was being pulled out with her player but was able to pick up any breaking ball and feed them out to Colleen and the midfielders. Aine got a couple of poc outs off wide balls. We went in at half time 7 goals up.
With another team-talk and being told to try out some of our trained drills off they went again. Victoria had a great score form out at the sideline and Leona added another one. Bronagh found the net again and with Victoria picking up the ballsent in from Colleen, she solo ran in and hand passed into the net.
I am not sure who was the happiest her or John, but the smile on both of their faces was a picture. Colleen took a bad knock to the finger and had to come off for first time this season. We put on our subs and they fought hard and played well.
This was an important match, you all rose to the challenge, you played as a team supporting each other on the attack, in defence.
Well done girls
