SWA Football U16 League
Glenravel 2-16 v 0-6 Lisburn

14 May 2009
Glenravel 2-16 Lisburn 0-6 It was a fine evening for a game of football and the U16's duly obliged those who turned up with another free flowing, high-scoring performance. Truth be told the home side never looked in any danger to the Lisburn outfit who looked as if they just wanted to get back on the bus and go home. Caolan McCambridge tossed over early points before Michael O' Mullan stroked over a majestic 45'. Niall Cushenan got in on the act as Conor McNeill pointed at will as the first half drew to its inevitable conclusion. On top all over the park the tigerish defending of Paul Donnelly and Mark O'Connor were of note, Joe Scullion sprayed passes to quick running front men and midfield held sway. Up front unselfish running created large hole and enough chances to have the match over by half time. As it was Glenravel turned round at the break 0-9 to 0-1 ahead. McNeill and McCambridge continued where they left off - however three early points were quickly cancelled out by the city men who began to make a fight of it. Joe Scullion stepped up from half back to land a point in the 44th minute and when Declan Diamond chipped the keeper a minute later the match was over. The points kept ticking over, Jordan McNeill got up the field from his midfield berth for a 58th minute point before Declan Traynor made a welcome and customary return, blasting to the net in style in the final minute. A satisfying performance - although a quicker delivery at times of the ball, especially to the man in the best position would have yielded a higher return. Nevertheless, well done. Training next week on Tuesday at 6.45hrs sharp on the pitch.
