Glenravel 3-10 Aldergrove 6-8 This turned out to be a very open game of football (probably too open) played on a greasy surface and in constant rain. Conor McNeill opened proceedings in the 3rd minute however Glenravel were quickly rocked back by fortuitous goals in the 4th and 7th minute, which in hindsight we never fully recovered from. Further points from Conor, Karl Fitzpatrick and Caolan McCambridge kept the team ticking over, before they were further rocked back by the concession of a 3rd goal just on the short whistle, leaving the half time score 3-4 to 0-4. With a bit of reshuffling Glenravel again started the second half brightly, with points from Caolan McCambridge and Chrissie Darragh (!). The concession of a 4th goal put substantial daylight between the teams. However with Paul Francis McGuckian and Mark O'Connor tigerish in the tackle and Conor McNeill and Caolan McCambridge constantly prompting the Green and Whites rallied with two quick goals from McCambridge and Gordon Dillon. Aldergrove were constantly dangerous, especially on the break and two more goals in the 41st and 49th minutes should have ended the contest. To their credit the team fought for every ball, and finished strongly with points from Joe Scullion (2), McNeill (1) and McCambridge (1). Declan Diamond finished the scoring with a well taken goal as Glenravel pressed to the end. 3-10 would win most games - lets take the positives from this - and if we can tighten up and not give possession away then things will improve - but we must work at it!
