Glenravel 5-8 V Moneyglass 2-5 We travelled over to Moneyglass on Friday night for a tough game against Moneyglass. Moneyglass lineout big down the middle and soon made that height advantage pay for them with 3 points on the board in the first 10 mins. We had our chances during this period but didn’t have our shooting boots on and had a number of glaring misses. Finally we got on the board with a settling point from Gareth and this was shortly followed by another from Jack. The Moneyglass team had a very dangerous full forward and got on the ball from 30 yards out and had only one thing on his mind. He made a strong run weaving through our defence to finish to the net. We didn’t panic and came right back at them with strong running from Andrew on the wing a good delivery found Gareth again for a good point. Finally we started to get on top at midfield and Gareth found the net to level the game. With increased pressure placed on the Moneyglass players our team forced the errors and from one of these we worked it for a short range tap in from Jack to leave the half time score 2-3 to 1-3. Second half we played down the hill with wind advantage and soon a number of long balls opened up the Moneyglass defence to free Gareth one on one to finish well to the net. Shortly after the kickout we broke again and Jack found himself one on one with the keeper to side foot to the net. Moneyglass responded with a few quick points to keep them in the hunt but we started to work hard all over the field to pick off scores from Gareth and Jack with a brace of 4 points between them. A number of subs were introduced at this stage and soon Conal Gould broke free to bear down on goal for a well take goal. Moneyglass responded to this with a strong shot from far out which found the net. Final score of the night came from a free to Ryan McIlroy. This was a difficult game for us but the second half showed grit and fitness can take you a long way and of course “shooting boots” win games and we thankfully found ours in the end.
